With the launch of zkSync Era, all users can build on the network and bridge funds to the system.
9% of total zkSync transactions were generated in the last week.
After four years of development, rigorous testing, multiple security audits, and a bug bounty program, Ethereum’s [ETH] layer-2 solution zkSync Era is now fully available to the public.
With this, zkSync Era becomes the first zk-rollup-compatible Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to launch on mainnet. This comes three days before the planned launch of Polygon [MATIC] zkEVM.
zkSync’s 2.0 mainnet Baby Alpha went live in October 2022, but was limited to developers. With the latest release, all users can build on the network and bridge funds to the system.
In preparation for the launch, a safety mechanism called execution delay was also built in. According to zkSync, the delay will ensure sufficient time to verify transactions and monitor for red flags, such as rapid outflows and large withdrawals during exploits.
Will kSync follow in Arbitrum’s footsteps?
With the long-awaited launch of the Arbitrum ecosystem governance token ARB, the focus now shifts to zkSync. Although zkSync has not made an official AirDrop announcement, the enthusiasm surrounding it has led many supporters to believe that they will soon be rewarded.
AirDrops have become one of the most popular marketing strategies in the crypto space. Users receive AirDrops based on specific eligibility criteria. One of the most common is trading activity on the platform. Users participate in multiple transactions, which increases their chances of using tokens.
Data from Dune confirms this argument. At the time of writing, the total number of transactions aggregated on layer 2 is over 19 million. About 9% of these were generated in the last week. In addition, the daily transaction volume on the network reached an all-time high of 336,315 on March 22.
Additionally, the amount of ETH and ERC-20 tokens deposited on the network exceeds $800 million, indicating that funds are constantly circulating in the ecosystem.
Token swaps and ETH bridges on the protocol have also increased significantly in the past few days.
Community optimistic about AirDrops
The crypto community believes that zkSync’s token launch is just around the corner. Twitter user hkm.eth believes that with the public launch, users should prepare for potential AirDrop and start exploring zkSync.
