Citron, an American short-selling agency, reported that it shorted Evergrande 11 years ago and has become popular again. At that time, it caused a lot of condemnation in the market. Looking back now, it is a bit enlightening. Citron founder Andrew Lightford released a 57-page short-selling report in June 2012, warning investors of Evergrande’s growing financial risks. The report included a sentence: “Evergrande’s outcome is doomed. The only thing that can’t be determined is the time.”
