【An anomalous on-chain signal caught my attention on SUI】
Over the past 24 hours, there was some pretty interesting on-chain data: the volume of large transfers suddenly spiked, exceeding 5% of the market cap.
This isn’t retail traders messing around. At this scale, transfers like this are either institutions accumulating positions or someone distributing/working off inventory. Two completely opposite actions, yet the resulting chart looks identical—so we’ll see how the price moves next.
Back to SUI.
The current price is $ 1.15, down nearly 80% from the high. Seven days ago it was still hovering around $ 1, but this week it managed to pull up 12%. The market Fear & Greed Index is 71, which falls in the greed zone—sentiment isn’t euphoric, but it’s also not cold.
Why do I lean toward a move upward over the next 7 days?
First, smart money is probably moving. If someone can move so many coins out at this kind of level, it’s unlikely to be random retail traders. Institutional players building here means either the fundamentals have changed, or they believe the risk-reward ratio is attractive.
Second, a 12% weekly gain isn’t something retail traders can drive. Without leverage funding and without futures/contract push, pure spot trading pushing it that far means either someone is absorbing or the locked-in supply has started to move. Once turnover happens at this level, the upward momentum ahead is actually cleaner.
Third, $ 1 is itself a psychological support level. When it drops to here, most retail traders are already flat/rolled over, and sell pressure tends to be lighter. If big players want to pick up, slowly accumulating from this level is more cost-effective than violently dumping.
But I should also make it clear what would make me think I’m wrong:
If within the next 3 days the trading volume comes down, and the price still can’t hold above $ 1.2, then my logic is flawed. Most likely, this 12% bounce is just an oversold rebound—not real accumulation. In that case, I’ll admit it.
Someone might ask: it’s already down nearly 80%, so why would you still be bullish?
This isn’t about “daring” or “not daring.” It’s about doing the math. For SUI around $ 1, what’s the circulating market cap really? As a Move-based public chain, while the ecosystem story hasn’t been fully told yet, the underlying technology and team strength are there. At this price, the valuation is already showing its value.
The real question is: do you believe this chain will be usable later?
If your answer is no, then there is no position that counts as a bottom. If your answer is that it’s only a matter of time, then right now the time-based risk-reward is already pretty favorable.
My own position was built in this range in batches. It’s not heavy—I’m essentially betting on that possibility.
Looking back next week, it’ll be obvious who was right and who was wrong.
What do you think—at this SUI level, is it an opportunity or a trap?
