$CL Folks, can we go long on crude oil at the current price? Just because others are panicking, does that mean we should be greedy? It depends on the situation. We need to see the underlying truth: this crash has nothing to do with supply and demand falling apart. It’s purely because expectations that “fighting won’t break out” in the Middle East have wiped out all the “war premium” that had been hyped up before, bringing prices back toward their true value. Don’t dismiss the news that the Democrats won a major victory yesterday. If oil prices keep rising, Europe’s banner-waving spectacle will soon spread to the US mainland.
At 87–88, prices have already hit a key technical support level. Note: the price hasn’t immediately fallen further because some long positions from earlier pending orders were triggered here. Whether it can hold is uncertain, especially given the broader trend. So even if it holds—or even bounces briefly—it will be a struggle.
The strategy is simple, in plain terms: three steps:
1. Give up on profiting from a rebound in long positions.
2. If you’re stubborn and absolutely have to buy the dip, get in and out quickly. Don’t set your target too far away; exit around $90–91.
3. Wait and watch the market. Start building a small short position around $90. The risk-reward ratio is definitely worth it!
