North Korea’s state hackers have booked an estimated $14.1B in revenue from crypto theft since 2017. That is about 42% of the country’s entire 2025 economy. And 2026 alone brought in $7.3B, more than 2017–2025 combined.
The jackpot came on Oct 29: ~$6.3B drained from Binance, starting with one compromised laptop and including a single $2.53B ETH transfer. Elliptic calls it the largest theft of any kind in history, 4× the Bybit hack. So far $2.84B has been frozen.
