PANews reported on August 6 that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on its official website that it had awarded more than $104 million to seven whistleblowers whose information and assistance made the SEC's enforcement actions and related actions of another agency successful. This amount ranks fourth in the history of the SEC's whistleblower reward program. It is reported that the seven whistleblowers are composed of two groups of joint whistleblowers and three individual whistleblowers. The information provided by each group of whistleblowers either prompted the SEC to launch an investigation or played a significant role in the SEC's investigation. The assistance of these seven individuals to staff includes providing documents that help law enforcement agencies with allegations of misconduct, participating in interviews, and identifying potential witnesses.
