thrilling! Andrew Schober of Colorado inadvertently downloaded a tampered version of his Electrum Bitcoin wallet in 2018, resulting in the theft of 16.5 of his Bitcoins, worth approximately $1.1 million. 😱Hidden in this fake wallet is a clipboard hijacker program specifically designed to fish for Bitcoin. Schober asked for help on Reddit, and on-chain investigator and asset recovery expert Nick Bax responded to his request. 🕵️♂️After a series of investigations, Schober’s team obtained internal Bitfinex data pointing to the exact IP and email address associated with the account that received his stolen Bitcoins. 🔍Currently, Schober has filed a civil lawsuit against those suspected of committing the crime.
