Rathnakishore Giri, a 27-year-old investment manager living in New Albany, Ohio, was arrested on Friday for allegedly operating a cryptocurrency investment scam that raised at least $10 million from investors. Giri allegedly misled investors by promoting himself as an expert in cryptocurrency trading with expertise in Bitcoin derivatives. According to the indictment, Giri falsely promised investors that the funds they invested with him would receive a generous return with no risk to their principal. Giri is charged with five counts of wire fraud and faces up to 20 years in prison for each count if convicted.
