Polkadot is vibrant in the blockchain world with a record number of active addresses. 🚀 According to Parity Data, there are more than 605,200 active addresses on Polkadot. About half of them, 248,000, are associated with cross-chain smart contract platform Moonbeam. 🌙 It tracks 191,000 addresses established directly on Polkadot.
IoT network 'Nodle' lags behind with 66,063 active addresses, while Polkadot's top parachain protocol Astar and decentralized liquid staking protocol Bifrost follow with 24,262 and 16,907 respectively.
Acala takes sixth and seventh place with 15,586 and Manta with 14,178.
In a statement regarding this milestone, Polkadot said, "Activity in the Polkadot ecosystem continues to increase. Many applications use private block space to prevent problems such as network spam. Polkadot provides a balance between flexibility and durability. Ultimately, this benefits users." said.
Additionally, the number of unique accounts with balances greater than zero continues to grow. This number, which exceeded 5.59 million at the end of March, was 5.53 million at the end of February.
Despite this, the total number of transactions on the network remains relatively low.
In March, Polkadot recorded a total of 11.58 million monthly transactions. While this is a slight increase from April's 10.8 million, it is much lower than the 31.78 million transactions recorded in December 2023.
Meanwhile, Polkadot's native DOT token experienced a slight recovery along with other altcoins. In the last 24 hours, DOT is trading at $9.03, up approximately 5%.
Last month, Palo Alto-based venture capital firm Electric Capital claimed that DOT is a crypto to watch in the upcoming cycle.
