A hacker known as "Pink Drainer" has been linked to recent Discord and Twitter account hacks, as well as the hijacking of OpenAI CTO's account. The hacker has reportedly stolen over $3 million from almost 2,000 victims through carefully crafted social engineering attacks and phishing links.
However, the number of crypto hacks has dropped significantly in the first quarter of 2023, with hackers stealing approximately $400 million across 40 attacks, representing a 70% decrease in money stolen compared to the same period in 2022, according to blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs. This positive trend is attributed to legal actions against hackers and sanctions placed on crypto mixer Tornado Cash.
