ChainCatcher reported that the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it had previously seized $3.36 billion in cryptocurrencies related to the Silk Road fraud on the dark web. The defendant, James Zong, admitted to committing wire fraud in September 2012. This is the largest cryptocurrency seizure in the history of the U.S. Department of Justice.
In November 2021, US law enforcement seized more than 50,676 bitcoins hidden in devices in James ZHONG's home. James ZHONG has now admitted to illegally obtaining bitcoins from the dark web Silk Road in 2012. (Source link)
