According to Foresight News, Sony Interactive Entertainment has applied for NFT-related patents to allow consumers to use NFTs in the Sony ecosystem, such as PlayStation. It also stated that NFTs can be used in game consoles "manufactured by Microsoft or Nintendo". "NFTs are provided to users so that digital assets can be used on multiple different computer simulation platforms through NFTs. Ownership of the NFT may then be transferred to other users for their use on different platforms."
Sony had previously applied for an NFT patent in November last year, but it was rejected for failing to "integrate abstract concepts into practical applications." Sony also explored the use of blockchain technology for music copyright management and education.
