Uniswap founder Hayden Adams tweeted: “Polygon needs to publicly take action to fix its reorg issues, yesterday’s 157 block reorg (5 minute history) and December’s 120 block reorg are bad, and will likely also break bridges and CEXs etc. Perhaps a consensus algorithm change? Or a hard fork based on social consensus to cut validators?”
Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic responded: "You are right, the reorganization must be resolved. But this time it is due to a bug that is being fixed. We are exploring replacing Bor/Heimdall with a single (Polygon Edge-based) client with instant finality." Jaynti Kanani, another co-founder of Polygon, responded: "(Solving the reorganization problem) This is done in two parts. The first one has entered the mainnet in January (reducing the sprint size), and the next version will be around March, supporting completion within a few seconds. Yesterday's reorganization was caused by a bug and will be fixed soon. For the second update, we will release it soon. It is now being rigorously tested."
Earlier news, in the early hours of yesterday morning, Polygon had an "abnormally large" block reorganization of 157 blocks, causing some nodes to lose synchronization and PolygonScan data to be interrupted for nearly two hours. However, officials said that block production has never stopped.
