According to Odaily Planet Daily, more than 20 residents of Granbury, Texas, filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency mining company Marathon Digital, claiming that the noise emitted by Marathon's local Bitcoin mining facilities is a "nuisance" and has caused "extreme discomfort and annoyance" to residents near the mine.

The plaintiffs note that some residents suffered "sensory, emotional, psychological and health effects" due to "constant" noise and vibration from the Marathon mine. Some locals experienced fatigue, headaches, memory problems, hearing loss, migraines and tinnitus.

The group said some residents' pre-existing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, were also exacerbated. "Even in their own homes, (residents) could hear the noise and feel the vibrations from the MARA Cryptomine," the lawsuit said.

It added that Marathon’s mine “substantially interferes with the plaintiff members’ private use and enjoyment of their property.” The group also claimed that the energy use of the bitcoin mining operation has led to “increased electricity bills and decreased property values.”
