According to U.Today, Martti Malmi, an early Bitcoin contributor, has released a series of previously unpublished emails with Satoshi Nakamoto. The emails shed new light on the early days of Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto’s philosophical approach to digital currency.
Satoshi saw Bitcoin primarily as a medium of exchange, not just an investment vehicle, and he emphasized that Bitcoin’s proof-of-work mechanism was more energy efficient than traditional banks, long before environmental concerns became a major issue.
In an email dated May 2, 2009, Satoshi praised Malmi for understanding the potential of Bitcoin, mentioning that linking Bitcoin to fiat currencies could increase its value, a topic he was reluctant to discuss publicly until the right time. He also stressed the importance of preparing for a large influx of users, foreseeing widespread adoption.
Furthermore, Nakamoto envisioned Bitcoin being able to scale to handle far greater volumes of transactions than the traditional financial system can handle, and at a fraction of the cost. He ensured that as the network grew, it would become more secure, treating early vulnerabilities as small startup problems.
