According to CryptoPotato, a new report shows that four out of five Ethereum block builders now comply with the sanctions regulations of the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Ethereum researcher and data analyst Toni Wahrstätter revealed in an article that censorship behavior has increased significantly in the past few months. It is worth noting that blocks that comply with OFAC regulations refer to blocks that omit transactions with parties sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control. Since the U.S. government imposed sanctions on Tornado Cash transactions in August, most blocks added to the blockchain have complied with OFAC regulations. Wahrstätter also emphasized that resistance to censorship is key to maintaining the political neutrality of blockchains. No single entity should control two-thirds of the content of a blockchain. Therefore, decentralization is a fundamental principle; centralization at any stack level can potentially harm the entire ecosystem.
