🚨 Attention to SparkKitty, a malware designed to steal seed phrases from crypto wallets.

Present on iOS and Android, it infiltrated certain apps, including via the App Store and Google Play. Once installed, it requests access to your gallery, then analyzes your photos for seed phrases, passwords, or any other sensitive information.

🔒 Never store your seed phrase in a photo, screenshot, or on a cloud service. Limit access to your gallery to trusted apps only and regularly check their permissions.

The CSO of the Binance exchange, Jimmy Su, indicated that phishing and malware remain greater threats to cryptocurrencies than quantum computers do today, but warns that research suggests the industry has less time to prepare than previously thought. While today’s quantum computers are far from the size and stability needed to break Bitcoin’s network cryptography, urgency has changed.

Recent studies, such as research from Google Quantum AI, showed that advances in more efficient quantum algorithms significantly reduce the number of qubits needed to compromise such ciphers, shortening the window of time for adopting post-quantum standards.

According to Glassnode, Bitcoin’s muted response to the 2.5% core inflation printing in July—which came in nearly flat—is a warning sign, with its price stuck at US$63,000 and spot volume at its lowest level since 2019. In a healthy market, this would have generated a bullish push. The fact that Bitcoin had an almost negligible reaction confirms the lack of active buyers and a temporary disinterest in the asset.

The combination of extremely low spot volume with a derivatives market featuring leveraged positions creates a delicate structure. Historically, periods of liquidity and volume compressed to this extent do not last long and are often the prelude to a drastic expansion in volatility.
