A 30% surge, but longs are the minority?
MAGMA rocketed 31% today, jumping from 0.283 to 0.397 in one go, with trading volume nearing $100 million—on price action alone, this move looks pretty fierce.
But here’s the interesting part: longs now make up only 46.6%, while shorts are actually 53.4%.
In other words, while the coin price is rising, most people in the market are betting on a drop. This kind of disagreement usually means the shorts haven’t fully given up yet. If the price continues to hold up, a short squeeze could become the next driving force.
Looking at the candlesticks: three consecutive hourly bullish candles, each closing steadily above the range, without the “false breakout” feel of long upper wicks—the bids are clearly being absorbed.
The funding rate is 0.02%, which is fairly normal, with no signs that longs are getting wiped out. If anything, this number suggests: big money hasn’t gotten overly overheated on the long side.
After such a sharp pump, with the long/short split this big, either there’s genuinely fresh buying stepping in, or this is still a hunt for short positions in progress.
I think there’s just one key point worth watching: if it can hold steadily above 0.39, how the remaining shorts decide what to do.
