There's also attention around the upcoming Solstice network changes.
But lower supply doesn't automatically mean higher prices. Buyers still need to show up.

On October 15, the six-year vesting for Protocol Labs and the Filecoin Foundation ends. It has been the biggest source of new $FIL since the network launched.

Based on FilecoinTLDR’s numbers, about 66.7 million FIL a year was coming from that vesting. After the 15th, only block rewards are left, around 22 million a year.

That cuts new coins by roughly 75%. It doesn’t cut the total supply. FIL keeps growing, just more slowly.

Less new supply also doesn’t mean the price has to go up. People still have to want to buy FIL, and this date has been known since 2020, so it may already be priced in.
