Variable rates are great… until they suddenly aren’t 😅
That’s the part of DeFi I’ve always found a bit frustrating: you can start with a strategy that makes sense, then the borrowing rate moves and changes the whole calculation.
This is where I think @TermMax has an interesting angle.
Instead of leaving the interest rate floating, TermMax lets borrowers lock in a fixed borrowing rate until maturity.
So you know the borrowing cost upfront.
For lenders, the other side is interesting too: Fixed-Rate Tokens (FTs) can be bought below their maturity value and redeemed for the full value later.
I like this idea because it makes the rate itself something you can actually plan around.
Not “APY is 18% right now, let’s hope it stays there.”
More like:
What rate am I locking?
When does it mature?
Does the trade still make sense at that rate?
That’s a much more structured way to think about DeFi.
And honestly, I think fixed-rate markets deserve a lot more attention.
