I've recently been following the development of the Pi Network ecosystem and have also started learning about PTY (Pitaya).
I think that for an ecosystem to go the distance, community participation and interest matter, but what's even more important is whether it eventually offers applications and services that people can actually use.
PTY is still in its early stages of development, and many things will take time to prove themselves. Rather than rushing to discuss what the future might hold, it's better to learn more about what the project is working on and what tangible progress it has made.
