Today everyone is watching two events. The July FOMC protocols and a crypto summit at the White House. Both are released today.
While everyone waits for headlines from there, I came across something quieter.
Jane Street. One of the most closed-doors quantitative trading firms on Wall Street lives on arbitrage, not on faith in an idea. Usually it doesn’t comment on the market publicly at all.
In a new SEC filing, it disclosed a position in a bitcoin ETF worth nearly a billion dollars.
Such firms don’t buy on a whim. They buy when the numbers line up.

Forget about the price of Bitcoin for a second.
The day before yesterday, the SEC held a meeting and proposed a new rule for crypto. The idea is simple: if a project stops being centralized, it will have up to four years to get out from under SEC jurisdiction altogether.
This isn’t a staff guidance that gets rescinded after a year. This is a rule. And a rule survives a change of the commission chair; guidance does not.
And this is only the first in a whole series that the current SEC administration is preparing.
Almost nobody is discussing it. Everyone is focused on Bitcoin, which has been stuck in place for the third day.
Usually, the market notices things like this with a delay of a couple of weeks. And then suddenly.

$BTC for the third day can’t manage to stay above 65k, it rolled back to 63.5–64. A typical story, nothing unusual.
What’s strange, though, is the open interest on the futures at $XRP —it’s currently at its highest since October. Right before the report, which is supposedly supposed to move Bitcoin, not the alts.
The Fear & Greed Index is 37. The market is more on edge than happy.
Usually, when everyone is looking in the same direction, while money quietly flows elsewhere—that’s when the most interesting things happen.
Not a signal. Just what I noticed in my feed a couple of hours before the report.
In a couple of hours, it will be clear who was right.
But I wouldn’t be looking there today.
