The current price is about $0.277, up about 4.6% in 24 hours, while futures open interest has increased by about 29%, yet the funding rate has fallen to -0.259%. This suggests that a large amount of short positions is still building up or under pressure. If the price continues to hold at higher levels, there is a possibility of a short squeeze driven by forced covering. However, such an extreme funding rate also means volatility and the risk of a sharp reversal are very high.

On the fundamentals side, Stacks Labs confirmed on August 25 that BitGo now supports sBTC custody and transfers, adding infrastructure for institutional access to Bitcoin financial applications on Stacks. But this does not mean the day’s entire rally can be attributed to this news alone.

BTC breaks through 80,000, and the capital is not only staying on BTC—

Bitcoin’s L2 ecosystem is quietly absorbing the overflow of funds. $STX is up +15.2% today, quietly stepping above the $0.26 level; the intraday high reached as far as $0.29.

A few details are worth noting:
- Funding rate: -0.0068%. Shorts are receiving a slight subsidy, indicating that the rise is mainly driven by spot buying pressure—not leveraged longs trying to pump it
- Position size of 35 million coins: there’s no abnormal buildup in contract OI, and the structure looks fairly healthy
- Trading volume of $112 million: momentum is clearly aligned

The underlying logic is also easy to understand: big institutional holders keep BTC parked, but want to participate in a higher-volatility move. The Bitcoin L2 track becomes a choice. As STX is the main smart-contract platform on the Bitcoin mainnet, the benefit logic is fairly straightforward.
