Solana officially arrives in Shanghai! The Bund lights up, an office opens in Lujiazui, and $SOL makes a splash in China! Guys, X was absolutely flooded last night! Solana’s official account posted “ni hao shanghai 🇨🇳” with a video. Right after that, the entire LED facade of Citigroup Tower in Shanghai’s Lujiazui district lit up in purple and blue, with six giant letters standing vertically: SOLANA. You could see it from across the Huangpu River, and loads of people along the Bund stopped to take pictures. This move was seriously something else. And that’s not all—Solana has officially opened a new office in Shanghai, reportedly one of the highest commercially usable office spaces in the world. Foundation chair Lily Liu even reposted the news herself to confirm: “It’s true.”
It’s more than just a light show—there are major moves underway Starting October 16, the Solana Accelerate China tour officially kicks off across four cities:
Shanghai (October 16)
Hangzhou
Shenzhen
Beijing
The focus throughout is on AI agents, robotics, Physical AI, and high-performance infrastructure, with almost no mention of tokens or trading. It’s a very smart compliance strategy: keep trading overseas while bringing the technology and developer ecosystem to China.
CZ couldn’t resist commenting last night, either: “Amazing to see that Solana was able to advertise and even get an office in China. BNB Chain was not able to do this, so far. 🤣 Hopefully what's good for one is good for the rest.” Solana is definitely ahead of the pack with this move.
What do you make of it? China has strict controls on virtual currency trading, but blockchain technology and AI applications have always been encouraged. Solana has opened an office right in Lujiazui and advertised on the Bund, showing that it has figured out where the boundaries lie and is taking a “technology narrative + developer ecosystem” approach. For $SOL, this could be a positive sentiment catalyst in the short term; in the long run, what matters more is attracting Chinese developers. After all, China has more engineers and AI talent than anywhere else in the world.
What do you think? Can Solana make this China push work, or is it just a high-profile marketing campaign? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let’s keep an eye on how $SOL performs. #SOL #上海 #BNB
