Kasba used a protocol called GHOSTDAG (developed by Professor Yonatan Sompolinsky, the same person from whom Satoshi borrowed the idea of GHOST in the Bitcoin whitepaper in 2008).
The mechanism step by step:
Every miner solves a new block and broadcasts it immediately to the network.
The new block references all the blocks that reached it at that moment (it could be 5 or 10 or 50 previous blocks).
The network arranges all the blocks in a DAG format and determines which group of blocks is considered "Blue" (Blue Blocks) meaning accepted and secure, and which is "Red" (Red Blocks) meaning outside the main chain but not canceled.
Over time, the largest interconnected group of blue blocks determines the final "Main Chain".
Finality occurs in less than a second because the transaction, once merged into a large blue block, is considered irreversible.
