Pakistanโs first-ever Crypto Council and AI tool are reportedly at risk of being canceled โ before even launching.
The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication has sought a detailed briefing from the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoIT&T) regarding the governmentโs recent initiative to establish a council for regulating cryptocurrency and the launch of the countryโs first indigenous Generative AI tool, โZahanat AIโ.
The key issue on the agenda is the purported launch of Pakistanโs first indigenous Generative AI tool, โZahanat AI,โ which was announced by the IT Minister but later denied by the National Information Technology Board (NITB) CEO. The committee will seek clarifications on the matter and evaluate the role of the Ministry in ensuring transparency in tech-related announcements and developments. The future of the Finance Divisionโs proposed crypto council also hangs in the balance.
