Noble in character To rise above kindling fires that others have put out, yet unfortunately the strange thing is to see some give up the pursuit of reconciliation and kind words, and instead devote themselves to hunting other people’s slips and fanning the embers of disputes, thinking that they are winning while they reveal to people the narrowness of their horizons and their love of discord. Meanwhile, the wise—if the disputants reconcile—turn the page; only the ignorant live off the leftovers of other people’s battles. Our true religion has admonished us to hold ourselves above this. For Allah the Almighty said in His Noble Book: “There is no good in much of their private conversation except for one who orders charity, or goodness, or reconciliation among people.” And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.” Houses are built with love; discord is not befitting those of great stature.”
