Short liquidations can add buying pressure as bearish positions are forcibly closed. Long liquidations can add selling pressure. These mechanisms can amplify price moves in both directions. My read: the next move needs confirmation from spot demand. With substantial liquidations on both sides, I would be cautious about treating a sudden price spike as proof that buyers have established control. What matters to me is whether buyers continue supporting the market after forced short covering slows. A recovery that holds its gains, attracts sustained spot activity and avoids an aggressive rebuild in leverage would strengthen my confidence. If open interest rises quickly while price struggles to advance, I would become more cautious about another reversal.
