US sanctions BitBank over alleged bitcoin transfers to IRGC
The US Treasury sanctioned Iranian crypto exchange BitBank over alleged transfers of hundreds of millions of dollars in bitcoin to the IRGC. OFAC also designated BitBank's developer and three associates of Iranian financier Babak Zanjani. The alleged transfers occurred between June and July.

JPMorgan said Bitcoin could outperform gold if ETF hedging eases. Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas predicted that Bitcoin ETFs will eventually triple gold ETFs in total assets. Gold ETFs have recovered all their 2026 outflows, while Bitcoin ETFs have recovered about half.

Bitcoin ETFs could triple gold counterparts as asset matures
Bitcoin ETFs could reach three times the assets of gold ETFs as bitcoin matures, Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said. The ETFs launched in 2024 after a decade of denials from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. They currently manage nearly $100 billion in assets, according to Coinglass data.
The SEC has authorized tokenised stock trading in the US under a five-year exemption. The move is expected to push crypto companies further into traditional equity markets. US venues must notify stock issuers and give investors the same rights as traditional shareholders. Robinhood and Payward must change models offered outside the US to meet those requirements.
