Colombia continues to advance toward crypto regulation and tokenization.

At the Blockchain Summit Latam 2026, it was confirmed that the country's government is drafting a bill together with the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of the Republic, and other authorities.

What is it aiming to do?
Regulate digital assets comprehensively and allow them to be integrated into the financial system.

Establish specific rules for the tokenization of securities, adapting the operation of the traditional market (Law 964 of 2005) to #colombia a distributed ledger technologies, without changing the legal nature of the instruments.

Key expected benefits:
- Lower costs and greater efficiency by bringing together on a single platform functions that are currently spread across different systems, such as registration, orders, clearing, and settlement.

- The ability to operate 24/7 using smart contracts, programmable money, and faster settlements.

- Greater liquidity and access to international markets.

The bill would also define which activities require authorization, the operating conditions, the supervisory role of the Financial Superintendency, and a system of sanctions. It would also allow the government to develop specific aspects through decrees.

This is an important step because the market has grown here; many of us use crypto and #Blockchain en the month, for purchases and other transactions.
