BlockBeats news, October 23: A whale has made profits on all eight rounds of swing shorts on BTC over the past 20 days, netting a cumulative $1.36 million. After taking profit on the latest trade, the whale appears to have started changing its trading strategy. Within a single day, the account executed three consecutive large trades involving nearly $25 million and arranged an exit plan in advance.
According to TradingBeats monitoring, a whale has netted approximately $1.364 million from eight rounds of shorting into strength amid recent choppy market conditions. These eight trades closed one after another between October 3 and 22. The most profitable round netted approximately $497,000, while the latest position was closed yesterday for a profit of approximately $329,000.
After profiting from eight consecutive rounds of shorting, the whale did not continue with its bearish strategy and instead made an unusual shift to opening a large BTC long position.
From yesterday through today, the account bought 100 BTC on three consecutive occasions, for a total of approximately $24.497 million, establishing a 300 BTC long position. Less than a day after taking profit on its final short position, it switched from consistently shorting to holding a heavily leveraged long position.
At the time of writing, the long position was worth approximately $24.566 million, with an average entry price of $81,656.8, unrealized profits of approximately $69,000, and a liquidation price of $74,008.2.
The whale has already arranged its first exit. Its only publicly visible BTC limit order is a 100 BTC reduce-only sell order at $82,500, intended to trim approximately $8.25 million from the long position—one-third of its current holdings. This is only about 0.75% above the market price at the time, and the order remains unfilled.
