Did the SEC approve staking in Ethereum ETFs? The news is important, but it didn’t start today.
Staking is already available through Ethereum investment products traded in the United States.
Grayscale began using staking in its products in October 2025 and distributed rewards to investors in January 2026.
BlackRock also has a dedicated product, the iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF ($ETHB).
And here’s what I find most interesting.
Now, some investors can gain exposure to the price of $ETH and an economic stake in staking rewards through exchange-traded products.
But that doesn’t mean guaranteed returns.
The value of the shares remains subject to Ethereum’s price fluctuations, as well as fees and operational risks associated with staking.
My take is that this structure expands the options for institutional exposure to ETH. But it doesn’t show that capital will automatically flow in or that the token will appreciate.
Financial innovation can be significant even without triggering a green candle.
