XRP Ledger disclosed a decade-old vulnerability: it could have been used to mint additional $XRP beyond the supply cap
1. Official disclosure (around 10/9): An integer overflow in the payment engine (traceable to around 2015) meant a specially crafted DEX offer combined with a payment could mint spendable $XRP beyond the 100 billion supply cap.
2. An emergency fix was deployed in xrpld 3.4.1 on 9/25 and took effect immediately; no evidence of exploitation on the public network has been found (according to RippleX/official reports).
