🚨 TWO ALARM | ZANO
🍬 CANDY CAN BE SHIT. JUST WRAPPED.
ZANO is more than just a «hack».
Due to a vulnerability in the Gateway Address, the attacker was able to create about 36.9 million ZANO and about 1.8 quadrillion fUSD.
But the main thing — it's not the numbers.
🔧 MECHANISM
The attacker didn't steal someone else's private key.
He bypassed the rule by which the protocol determined who was allowed to create an asset.
And here the distinction matters.
BTC: the protocol has predefined issuance rules. New BTC are not created because a certain address was granted special permission to “draw” coins.
ZANO: in this case, a vulnerability in the Gateway Address mechanism allowed unauthorized creation of ZANO units. The result was a chain rollback.
So the question is not only:
“Were coins stolen?”
A:
“Can someone break the rule by which the protocol defines what counts as a legitimate asset?”
🧠 DVA-FILTER
Before buying a token, check:
→ who controls the issuance?
→ what mechanism limits it?
→ is there a privileged address / admin key?
→ is there an emergency mechanism?
→ is it possible to change history after a critical error?
→ what happens to the asset if the protocol makes a mistake?
📌 A DECISION FOR THE READER
Don’t judge a token only by price, market cap, or a nice technology.
Find the issuance rule and the mechanism that protects it.
If you can’t answer who and under what conditions can create new asset units, then you still don’t know the main thing about this token.
Token ≠ just a record in a wallet.
FACT → MECHANISM → DECISION.
Not financial advice. DYOR.
