AMD current price 621.95, up 9% in the past 24 hours. Long-side funding fee of 0.000575 is being paid. This move follows the Trump-trade logic: the market is betting that he will tighten chip export controls after taking office, which in turn boosts expectations for domestic substitution demand. But with funding positive and the price rising, long chasing higher is accumulating costs, so a near-term reversal is relatively likely.

As for my counterview, the sanctions expectation is already out in the open; if he truly takes office, it may not necessarily exceed expectations. Open interest of 117,000 contracts isn’t extremely high, but the funding rate is already somewhat overheated.
