CHINA JUST PROCESSED $190T IN CASHLESS PAYMENTS
In Q2/2025, China’s banking system handled 149,789 trillion transactions in cashless payment, with a total value of 1,365.36 trillion RMB (~$190T).
Electronic payments alone reached 80,053 trillion transactions, valued at 858.16 trillion RMB (~$119T). Of these, mobile payments processed 583.86 billion transactions, equivalent to 136.06 trillion RMB (~$19T).
Non-bank payment institutions continued to process 333.845 billion transactions, valued at 82.11 trillion RMB (~$11.4T).
Overall, China’s payments system handled 392.751 billion transactions, with a total value of up to 3,084.83 trillion RMB (~$430T) in just one quarter.
This scale is large enough to show that China is operating a massive digital payments economy—and as stablecoins, CBDCs, and blockchain continue to develop, the payments game could change even more.
