Using Bitcoin in DeFi has always been risky. Tokens like WBTC depend on bridges and custodians. If a bridge gets hacked, your BTC can disappear.
@BabylonLabs_io ka TBV (Trustless Bitcoin Vaults) is completely different. Here, you don’t need to wrap your BTC. Your BTC is locked on the Bitcoin network itself, in a Taproot script. The real meaning of “custody remains in your hands” is that without your private key, no protocol or validator can move your funds. There is no risk like a bridge hack here, because there is no BTC wrapping or cross-chain transfer.
Now understand the use case of $BABY tokens. These are for network gas fees and governance. When you lock your BTC in TBV and provide security to other PoS chains, the system rewards you with staking rewards in the form of $BABY in return for this trustless contribution.
My observation is that WBTC is an IOU (a promissory/borrower receipt) where you have to trust a third party. Whereas TBV is a self-sovereign locker built purely on cryptography. If we want to avoid smart contract risks, then such transparent and native security is the future of DeFi.

#Claimreward - Binance turning 9 reminds me — the ones who survived crypto's wildest cycles weren't the biggest risk-takers. They were the ones who protected their capital first, and let profits come second. No stop loss = no safety net. One bad trade shouldn't erase months of discipline. 9 years in, the lesson's simple: survive first, grow after. #Binance9 #bnb #BTC #AKE $AKE

🔥 BitMine just picked up 42,197 $ETH , about $73 million and now holds even more Ethereum, which says a lot about how institutions still see big potential here. As for Trusted Volumes, they managed to recover 1,122 ETH after getting hacked. The attacker didn’t walk away empty-handed, though, keeping roughly $2 million out of the original $5.9 million stolen. All in all, this update gives you a glimpse of both rising adoption and the fact that DeFi security isn’t something anyone can afford to ignore. #SpaceXShortInterestHits29%OfFloat @Bitcoin #Bobbypk @Ethereum
