Foresight News reports that Galaxy Digital's research director Alex Thorn tweeted that the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has historically involved 518 Bitcoin addresses on its sanctions list (SDN list), which have collectively received 249,814 BTC and sent 239,708 BTC, currently holding about 9,306 BTC, valued at approximately $707 million at current market prices. Thorn stated that OFAC sanctions are only one of the means by which the U.S. intercepts illegal assets, and the (CLARITY Act) will further expand the Treasury's relevant powers. He believes this act represents "the largest expansion of financial surveillance powers since the (USA PATRIOT Act)."
