Google Cloud officially announced that it will shut down its blockchain node and RPC services on December 15, transferring all existing customers as a package to QuickNode. The transition period is just over two months.

Don’t read this as “Google is exiting crypto.” The truth is simple: RPC is tough, low-margin work, and the giants can’t be bothered to stick it out. QuickNode gets an entire portfolio of enterprise customers handed to it on a silver platter. Too bad it hasn’t launched a token—there’s nowhere to get in early. The real takeaway is this: specialized infrastructure is still the domain of specialist providers, and the likes of Alchemy and Ankr have actually had their approach validated in reverse.
