This mistake cost traders millions: treating every leaderboard PnL screenshot like a crystal ball.
The pain is real. You see someone close a
$BTC perp for +6,570.16 USDT in one day, ranking Top 71 in live futures PnL, and suddenly your perfectly calm plan starts whispering, “What if I’m late?”
Here’s the funny part: the trader was looking at
$BTC to 79,000, while BTC itself was down 0.58% on the snapshot. That’s the futures brain in action. You can be right on direction, wrong on timing, overleveraged by 10 minutes, and still donate to the market.
We’ve seen this movie before with every big
$BTC breakout narrative, and even with high-beta rotations into
$ETH or
$SOL . One clean PnL post can create more FOMO than a full chart setup, but screenshots show the trophy, not the risk, liquidation buffer, or the trades that didn’t make the feed.
So is this a smart signal that 79K is still on the table, or just another futures flex tempting people to chase entries?
