🇧🇷 CVM RECEIVES 11 PROPOSALS TO TEST TOKENIZED ASSETS IN BRAZIL
Brazil’s capital market is moving into a new stage of technological experimentation.
The Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) confirmed that it had received 11 project proposals for the DLT Pilot Program, an initiative designed to assess the use of blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies in securities transactions.
🏦 WHO IS PARTICIPATING?
The proponents include B3, ANBIMA, ABcripto, ABFintech, ABToken, Liqi, and other organizations and companies in the financial and technology sectors.
🔎 WHAT WILL BE TESTED?
The projects may explore experimental transactions involving the issuance, distribution, trading, recording, custody, and settlement of assets such as shares, debentures, receivables certificates, and fund units.
The goal is to assess technical feasibility, security, interoperability, operational risks, and potential needs for regulatory improvements.
⚖️ HAVE THE PROPOSALS ALREADY BEEN APPROVED?
No. The CVM said the projects will still be reviewed for compliance with the requirements of CVM Resolution 249.
Receipt of the proposals does not constitute automatic approval, commercial authorization, or a guarantee of definitive implementation.
📊 WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Tokenization could help modernize capital market processes, improve integration among infrastructures, and develop new operating models.
However, benefits such as lower costs, greater liquidity, and increased efficiency will depend on the actual test results.
For the crypto-asset market, the initiative reinforces the institutional development of the real-world asset (RWA) segment, but does not guarantee an increase in the value of any token or cryptocurrency.
