A $700 million AWACS aircraft parked at Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Air Base, 1,500 km away from Iran, was precisely targeted by a $5,000 Iranian Shahed drone, destroying the radar section in the middle of the American plane.

The AWACS aircraft had a radar range of 400 km and could fly up to 7,000 km without refueling, meaning during war it could provide real-time data on U.S. aircraft and other military assets within a 7,400 km range.

These AWACS planes and other radars in the region are America’s eyes, and destroying them is equivalent to blinding the U.S., something Iran is achieving with very little cost.
