BlockBeats news, January 12, the Indian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has issued new guidelines tightening the user registration rules for cryptocurrency platforms. The new regulations mandate that regulated cryptocurrency platforms verify user identities through real-time selfies and location verification. The real-time selfie photos can track eye and head movements, preventing the use of AI deepfake technology to bypass KYC verification processes.
In addition, Indian trading platforms are required to collect geographical location, IP address, and timestamp of account creation at the time of account setup. Users now need to submit additional government-issued photo identification, as well as verify their email address and phone number, in order to create an account on a cryptocurrency trading platform.
