Foresight News: Go Ethereum, the Ethereum Go language client, has released its Geth v1.12.1, which is possibly the largest maintenance version in its history. The developers recommend all users upgrade to this version.

The focus of this release cycle has been the development of the upcoming Cancun hard fork. Although Geth v1.12.1 is not yet ready for Cancun, it includes basic type definitions and state transition logic for EIP-4844 'Shard Blob Transactions'. It also implements a new memory pool, called blobpool, for EIP-4844 transactions. The blobpool is not yet used by the p2p network and is still being tested in the Cancun development network. Additionally, Geth no longer supports the Rinkeby testnet (#27406).
