An Indian national, Chirag Tomar, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for a $20M crypto fraud scheme involving fake websites. U.S. District Judge Kenneth D. Bell handed down the sentence, with Tomar also facing 2 years of supervised release.

🔹 Tomar and his co-conspirators spoofed Coinbase, tricking victims into using a fake URL, CoinbasePro.Com.

🔹 The scheme, dating back to June 2021, targeted users worldwide, stealing authentication details and funds.

🔹 A North Carolina user lost $240K in Feb 2022.
