I have nothing but respect for @VitalikButerin, but focusing on upgrading @ethereum to RISC-V is a giant side quest and would be a colossal strategic mistake:
- Execution layer ossification and efficiency are goals in fundamental tension
- "zk" (or succinct) VMs all rely on special precompiles anyways
- RISC-V would do nothing to address @ethereum's DevEx and UX fragmentation problems or provide privacy-preserving apps, which people want way more than marginal efficiency gains

In my view, @ethereum should focus on something else, and time is running out for strategic vacillation.

"Cryptoeconomics" isn't a real field, it's just cybernetics rebranded, in denial of actual history. Distributed consensus systems and practical zero-knowledge proofs are real progress in the possibility space, but they don't merit a new field.

The problem with the @ethereum EVM is that the state architecture is incompatible with privacy and incompatible with multichain state. The problem with the EVM isn't the ISA. Just add `EVAL` and JIT bytecode sequences if you want to optimize stuff (like jets in @urbit Nock).

I just shielded 1000 @noble_xyz USDC on @namada, and I want to give it away in the next 24 hours to the first 100 folks who help us product test.
