TradFi means Traditional Finance. It is the financial system we have used for decades.
Banks, stock markets, central banks, insurance companies, and governments are all part of TradFi.
When you open a bank account, buy stocks, take a loan, or use a credit card, you are using TradFi.
How TradFi Works?
You trust a central authority to hold and move your money. A bank keeps your deposit. A stock exchange matches buyers and sellers. A central bank controls interest rates and prints currency.
Your money is not in your hands. It is in a system managed by institutions.
Key Parts:
Banks: Store money, give loans, and process payments.
Stock Market: Lets you buy shares of companies like Apple, Tesla, and Samsung.
Bonds: Loans you give to governments or companies in exchange for interest.
Central Banks: Control monetary policy and inflation, such as the Federal Reserve in the US.
Insurance: Protects you from financial loss in case of accidents or emergencies.
Pros of TradFi?
It is regulated and protected by law.
It is stable and widely accepted.
Beginners can start easily with a bank account or brokerage.
Deposit insurance protects your savings in many countries.
Cons of TradFi?
It is slow. International transfers can take days.
It has high fees and middlemen.
It is closed. Banks can freeze accounts or deny access.
It is controlled by a few large institutions.
Inflation can reduce the value of your savings over time.
TradFi vs Crypto:
TradFi is centralized. A few institutions control the system.
Crypto is decentralized. Users control their own assets with wallets.
TradFi works on business hours. Crypto works 24 hours, 7 days a week.
TradFi needs permission to join. Crypto needs only internet access.
The truth is simple. TradFi is not going away. Crypto is not replacing it overnight. The future will be both working together. Banks are already buying Bitcoin. Asset managers are already launching crypto ETFs.
If you are a beginner, start by understanding TradFi first. Then crypto will make much more sense.
