🚨 Algorand Puts ALGO Supply Expansion Plans on Hold
@AlgoFoundation has indefinitely paused Project King Safety, shelving its proposed overhaul of $ALGO fees, rewards, and tokenomics.
The decision puts several controversial ideas off the table: ▪️ No increase to the ALGO supply cap ▪️ No higher minimum transaction fees ▪️ No MEV capture plans
Staking rewards, meanwhile, will remain in place through January 2028.
But the changes extend beyond tokenomics. Algorand will pause xGov community grants from December 6, close the Algorand Forum, and end corporate sponsorship of its technical council.
Under CEO William Herkelrath, appointed in September, the network is shifting toward a revenue-generating model.
The next phase could introduce usage-based fees for advanced features, including post-quantum accounts.
The bigger question: Can Algorand build sustainable network revenue without expanding ALGO's supply or compromising its user experience?
