A Bitcoin refund is not an undo button.

Once a Bitcoin payment is confirmed, the recipient can send funds back, but that is a new payment—not an erasure of the original transaction. Bitcoin has no central authority that can reverse a mistaken transfer for you.

Why it matters: a seller's refund policy is a promise by that seller, not a protection built into the network. Check who you are paying and understand the refund terms before sending funds.

The risk: if the recipient refuses to cooperate, the network cannot force a refund. More confirmations strengthen settlement; they do not make the seller trustworthy.

Practical takeaway: verify the counterparty, not just the payment address.
