AMD just delivered one of the cleanest AI-era earnings prints we’ve seen — and the stock still got punched in the face first.
◆ Q3 2026 Earnings: The Numbers Speak for Themselves
✔︎ Revenue $13.38 billion, up 45% year-over-year (beat)
✔︎ Adjusted EPS $2.09, up 74% (clear beat)
✔︎ Data Center revenue nearly doubled to $8.5 billion (+97% YoY) and now makes up 64% of the company
✔︎ Q4 guidance ~$17 billion (±3%), well above consensus and implying ~66% YoY growth
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Lisa Su didn’t just meet the moment — she raised the bar. Demand for Instinct GPUs and EPYC CPUs is accelerating, Helios rack-scale systems are shipping, and management is pointing to >80% total revenue growth in 2027 with Data Center expected to exceed 80% of the mix.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
So why the sell-off?

The chart tells the story. After running hard into early October (near the $650–660 zone), AMD sold off sharply into early November, briefly tagging the low-$400s before ripping back ~10% on Nov 6 to the mid-$440s. Classic “buy the rumor, sell the news + valuation digestion” action after a massive multi-month run. The AI trade has been volatile; Intel’s earlier stumble didn’t help sentiment, and some investors simply wanted to lock in gains after the big move.

What’s actually driving the narrative right now
① Data Center is no longer a growth story — it’s the story.
Server revenue more than doubled. AI accelerators are scaling. This is the real engine.
② Guidance is aggressive and credible.
$17B in Q4 and >80% growth next year isn’t conservative. Supply is being locked in.
③ The pullback created breathing room.
From the October highs the stock has given back a meaningful chunk. Absolute valuation is still elevated, but the growth trajectory just got steeper.

Is it too late to chase chip stocks?
Not if you’re selective. The pure AI compute names that are actually delivering (and guiding higher) still have the wind at their backs. The ones that miss or guide soft are getting punished hard. AMD just put itself firmly in the first camp. The recent dip is exactly the kind of volatility that creates better entry points for those who believe the multi-year AI infrastructure build-out still has years to run.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Arm and Qualcomm report soon — that will be the next real-time test of whether the heat in AI compute keeps spilling over.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
➤ Bottom line
Strong fundamentals + elevated but not insane valuations after the pullback + clear acceleration in the highest-margin part of the business = the setup remains constructive for patient capital.
